Learn About Mr. Tarbet

I was born in Upland, in Southern California.  When I was six years old my family moved to Fillmore, Utah and that's where I lived until it was time for college.

I've been singing since I was little and haven't stopped.  What started me into performing music, however, was middle school orchestra. I played the stand-up bass.  As a sophomore, at Millard High School, I started choir.  After one month, I knew that I wanted to be a music teacher. The dream hasn't changed since, and has now become a reality.

I received two scholarships to Southern Utah University for voice and string  bass.

After one semester of college, I served a mission for
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in
Atlanta, Georgia for a year. I injured my knee,
came home to Fillmore for two months, and returned to
serve the second year in Indianapolis, Indiana.

While serving in Georgia I met my wife, Sarah, who
was serving as a sister missionary.  When we both
finished serving missions, we decided to get married.
We now have two beautiful daughters, Ellie Jo and
Ayda Jean, and two handsome sons, Oscar James
and Arlo Jack.

After my mission I returned to school at SUU.  Again, I received a scholarship for voice. My principal

voice teacher was Dr. Lawrence Johnson and my conducting teachers were Dr. Mark Stickney and Prof.

Sara Guttenburg.

During school is when my two daughters, Ellie Jo and Ayda Jean, were born in Cedar City and at the beginning

of my third year of teaching my son, Oscar James was born in Murry.  At the end of my 5th year teaching is when my son Arlo Jack was born in Cedar City.

I did my student teaching at Jordan High School in Sandy, Utah, under the guidance of Dr. Peter Steenblik.

I then graduated from SUU in May of 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education, with Vocal Emphasis.

I then taught 4 great years at Hawthorn Academy as the Middle School Music Teacher teaching Guitar 1 and 2, Orchestra, Band, and Choir.  I now get the pleasure of being the Choir, Band, Music Appreciation, Drama, Film Making, Photography, and Stage Tech teacher back where it all began at Millard High School.

Here are some videos of some of my vocal performances.
